To quote my paternal grandmother, “Well, I never”, and that would be accurate. Indeed, this hasn’t happened in our country’s history before. I’m not a history buff, but I don’t recall it happening in the history of the United Kingdom, France, or elsewhere, although they have had considerably longer and more turbulent histories with their Parliaments than we’ve had. The first Great Council in England was in 1216. They’ve had plenty of opportunities and lots of practice.
We are but mere beginners at this. Perhaps it would be helpful to remind ourselves of that fact as we struggle to keep this ship of democracy afloat. We have a tendency to talk about how we’ve been the “greatest nation in the world” and “a beacon on the hill” for fledgling nations to emulate, and, while true, we are still immature and struggling. It’s the hero that DOES NOT admit to his flaws that is the one that is most likely to trip and shatter to pieces with the fans throwing garbage or worse, then going on to the next idol. I’d much rather have the more honest version that works on the deficiencies and tries to shore them up.
If the situation in Congress were not so screwed up, it would be a Saturday Night Live show. It is truly made for comedy. Almost literally half of the House has no clue what they are doing other than creating chaos. Seven people who openly espouse white supremacy/nationalist viewpoints and who want to overthrow our form of government are trying to put one of their own within TWO HEARTBEATS OF THE PRESIDENCY, and in a position to block every single piece of legislation and funding for this year and next year. That last part would effectively SHUT OUR GOVERNMENT DOWN NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY.
WE CANNOT AFFORD TO ALLOW JIM JORDAN ANYWHERE NEAR THE SPEAKER’S OFFICE.
To allow him in there would be lethal to our entire government, and he knows it. That’s why he wants to have a public vote tomorrow. He wants to know who will not support him so that the people who back Trump can go after them. (This would be the Federalist Society, Ginni Thomas, David Koch, Leonard Leo, and that crowd.) This is very serious stuff.
Yes, I know I am talking about treason, sedition, and conspiracy in a real way. That’s exactly what it is. Call it what it is. These people are enemies of our country operating in plain sight. I am not going to pull punches. You cannot support them and call yourself a patriot. Either you support the democratic way or you don’t and they do not. They want to install Trump again and he has very blatantly said that he will GUT every department in our system so that he can control every part of our government from the White House just like Putin and Un do. He wants to put all of his enemies in prison for the rest of their lives without trials. In short, he wants to be a dictator.
Jim Jordan wants to light the fire to start the conflagration. We have to stop him somehow. Let’s at least make certain all of his matches are wet. Contact your House representative and tell them to either vote NO or to be absent for the vote.
