At about 5:00 P.M. today, Special Counsel Jack Smith announced that the indictments had been unsealed and four felony charges had been made against Donald John Trump Sr.
Now, before anyone gets all emotional about this post, allow me to caution you that this is not a time for jubilation or anger. This is very serious stuff. While I am definitely relieved that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has finally arrived at this point with this defendant, I am also aware that there are quite a few more that can and should be prosecuted for similar charges. I hope very sincerely that they will be.
As the events in 2020 unfolded from January until November, it was very evident to me and quite a few others that Donald Trump was not going to win the election and that he was planning on trying to maintain his possession of the Oval Office “by hook or by crook”. Of course, I’m a private citizen, and I have nothing but my “gut feelings”, intuition, “informed reading”, or whatever the heck you want to call it, but it sure looked obvious to me from what I was hearing and reading.
He’s like a four or five-year-old child. He cannot help himself. He TELLS you what he is going to do. “Let’s play hide-and-seek, Daddy, and I’ll go hide in my closet!” Only Trump was telegraphing his moves saying, “If I lose, you will know that the election will be rigged!” “They’re going to have the ballot boxes stuffed with the votes of DEAD voters!” “The machines will be hacked from outside the country.”
Uh, huh. Keep priming that pump. The rest of us were ready for you. Nothing of the sort happened. We just heard more of the lies.
This is a person who has ALWAYS gotten his way. He cannot imagine not getting what he wants. For the past nearly three years, he has been told the one word that he has never heard in his entire LIFE and he does not know how to cope. That word is NO.
He’s pathetic in a very fundamental sense, but that’s a whole different tale altogether. The problem for the USA is that he has become the symbol of all that is corrupt, evil, and wrong in our government. Now we have to deal with that in the courts of justice and it is going to get incredibly ugly. All of our hatred, bigotry, racism, and injustice is about to hit the proverbial fan. I pray we are strong enough. I think we are. We’ve had the sheer courage to get this far. Let’s hang in there and finish this part.
Then we have to start the next phase. That will be irrigating the wound and cleaning it out so we can heal it in the sunshine. We simply cannot do this again.
Pray for wisdom, courage, and strength. We’re going to need all that we can get.
