This is my first foray into any kind of elected office so having people indicated that they have confidence in my ability to represent them in such an important role is exhilarating and, honestly, downright scary. When you are a total introvert like me (who would rather stay home and talk to my animals), it is overwhelming. I really appreciate your votes and I will do every thing possible to deserve the honor you have placed on me.

Now comes the hard part of every election. I need to raise sufficient funds to purchase the signs to remind voters who I am and which race I am running for. I will need to send post cards to the folks who quite possibly do not get out as much as they used to be able to do (disabled, elderly, out of town, work long hours, have to care for children/homebound folks, etc.) and literature to give to people at events and while doing door knocking. All of this requires money and lots of it. As one politician said back in the day, “These campaigns are like cars. Cars run on gas and campaigns run on money.” It’s true. Unfortunately, the gas is becoming more and more like the money!

That’s the most immediate need for my campaign. I will need willing hands to help starting about the middle of July. If you want to do something, you can plan ahead for that period of time. I’ll try to plan things for cooler parts of the day-but plan for hats, comfortable shoes, and WATER. We’re going to do this. I’m going to have coolers in the back of my red truck with room for lawn chairs. If nothing else, we’ll have a good time.
