What IS in the Kool-Aid?

In the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini, the corrupt priests worship flesh-eating gods what demand regular sacrifices. What is most notable about this is not the fact that they regularly sacrifice human prisoners, but that they sacrifice their own arms and legs to these ravenous gods and yet continue in their blind worship of these horrible entities apparently completely void of the ability to discern both the evil of their beings and the fact that they could be free of their power. It is a potent metaphor for the stranglehold of the Nazi fascism that has on the leaders of the Republican party as a whole and their followers.

Another literary reference is that of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. A malevolent entity named Sauron has taken over the Mountain called Doom and his followers are determined to overrun Middle Earth (which roughly correlates to Great Britain). The story is a fantasy/allegory. In it one of the wizards, Saruman the Grey, has been corrupted by Sauron, and he tries to force Gandalf the White to either join him or being held captive. Gandalf escapes after many days of captivity. In the meantime, Saruman is developing armies of orcs and wargs who produce the machines of warfare. It will be these armies that meet the armies of men, dwarves, elves, etc. in the decisive battle at the end. The reason that I bring this up is because of the complete and utter loyalty that Sauron demands of his followers at all times. Although never actually seen, his presence looms over everything and even blots out the sun during the battle. It lingers even after he is defeated, too, as the wanderers return home to find their homes being destroyed by none other than Saruman and his orcs. Perhaps Nikki Haley said it best when she noted that wherever Trump goes, chaos follows.

I have, at various times, heard people around here say, “well, you know, things are so bad that maybe we do need a dictator to straighten things out.” I am appalled by such ignorance. The problem here is that once such a person has been convinced by those people like Bannon, Gorka, Miller, Alex Jones, Charlie Kirk, Sean Hannity, and the rest, that maybe we do and the preachers pick up the cry and they hear it from the pulpits on Sunday after Sunday-YOU CANNOT CONVINCE THEM THAT IT IS NOT THE TRUTH.

What should we do?

My suggestions are:

Young people have to organize themselves and talk to their peers in high schools and colleges. If they have time and opportunity to volunteer around work and studies, we need them.
White women-go to the more liberal churches, garden clubs, service clubs, and other groups. Ask for buy in. Recruit as many as you can. Organize meet/greet fundraisers for candidates, postcard parties, phone bank sessions. Work your wonders.
Black women-you folks are the wonders of the world when it comes to networking and I am most truly in awe. If there is anybody who can get your communities together and moving in one direction, it is you.
Somebody is going to have to clue me in on the AAPI folks. I know there has to be a key to getting their approval, and I suspect it lies in community leaders/churches, but I don’t know that for a fact.
Ditto with the Spanish speaking folks. A little help please.

We will just have to learn to act as if they are not there and work around them. They are not going to get out of our way. They will not work on compromises. What they will do is try to beat us down and break us, and that is something we WILL NOT ALLOW. The only alternative we have is to beat them solidly and, if necessary, be willing and ready, if they try another January 6 type insurrection. If they do, and I hope with every fiber of my being that they are not so stupid, throw every single one of them in prison for the rest of their lives. If there is one thing that they are totally wrong about, it is this: Democrats, when aroused, will fight back and fight for everything they are worth. We are to that point. Don’t push us.

We don’t need anyone even remotely like him in the White House ever again. We didn’t need him in there the first time. If there is a wall to be built, let’s build it AROUND Doral and keep him inside.

It’s 2024. This is our time, Democrats. This is our country. Claim it.
