Our last Christmas together as a democracy.
That sounds really ominous, doesn’t it? But it very well could be the case. I certainly do not want it to be and my optimistic personality says that it won’t be, but I’m realistic enough to realize that in 2016, I didn’t think that our country would elect that awful farce of a man to the White House either. But they did.
And here we are now looking down the barrel of another election with him in it and a possible future with him that does not have an ending in sight. He “says” he only wants to be a dictator for one day. No dictator that I know of ever gave up that power voluntarily and went back to a populist form of government. He doesn’t like being told what to do. He wants to RULE and that would be the end of our country as we know it.
Here’s what I see:
I see a rather small group of very vocal and very loyal followers of his who are willing, in some cases, to literally die for him. That makes them a true cult. But because the number is small-ish, it also makes them vulnerable to being defeated at the polls as long as we keep our heads clear. This is important.
The number of people who are LEAVING the Republican party is growing and for good reason. As we keep putting out consistent messaging about what the Democrats are delivering FOR our country and its citizens, what our allies are saying abroad, and the negative messaging that the other side is actively using, they will keep leaving on their own. We don’t need to “go after” them. They’ll come to us. Just keep doing what we are doing.
Practice what we preach. Make certain that we do exactly what we say about supporting LGBTQ rights, for example. Fight for abortion rights at every opportunity. Go for voter protection every chance we get. Speak up and speak out. Do not allow these turkeys to get you down. If you need to, go out in groups to keep the thugs off of you. I take pictures and I’ve got my phone set to immediately upload to the cloud. If my phone is damaged in some way, no problem. I can still get to my pictures and give them to police. Don’t mess with me.
Get involved and stay involved. Your children are watching you. If you sit down and say something like, “well, they going to do what they going to do” what does that tell your children? It tells them that they don’t have a voice. But if YOU get up and get involved, you tell them that they have worth and they have a voice. Now which way do you want your children to feel?
I choose to have a voice. In fact, I choose to be a megaphone. I want to amplify your voices. Help me to do that. I want to STOP those people from treating Georgia citizens like second- or third-class people. I want YOU to have YOUR voices heard and NOT be silenced. But the ONLY way I can do that is for you to SUPPORT me as your candidate for State Senate in District 29.
