Two-Spirit People

I’m not going to say that I totally understand the scope of gender identification because that would be a very large falsehood. I do not. Heck, I am a biological female and I do not understand everything about what is generally lumped under the word “women”. (Guys, we are complex beings. What can I tell you?) I do not claim to understand men either. I usually have a vague idea about both, but in my decades of life on this planet, the one verity of life is that about the time you think you have a handle on a subject, you’ll find out that what you thought you knew was at least 50% wrong.

Since my lifelong love is science and the wonders of the universe around me, I grew up questioning absolutely EVERYTHING. How did that work? Why did that make that do that? And so forth including gender identity. I don’t recall my parents addressing it directly. My mom was uncomfortable with the subject and my dad just said, “If you have to ask, it doesn’t matter.” That didn’t explain much, but it does have practical application in the real world.

What I DO understand about people is that there are some people for whom anything that is not black/white, plus/minus, yes/no is unacceptable. Something in their psyche just cannot tolerate anything that comes on a sliding scale. I do not know how they manage with shades of blue, tonal sounds, turning the volume up and down, dimmer switches, ombre candles, or anything like that. The universe is just full of variations of things and that includes the expression of gender identity.

The thing that I DO NOT understand is why they think it is their God-given right to violate the privacy of anyone and everyone to inspect their genitals? And, for some odd reason, ONLY on one side of the equation! It’s never on the boys’ restroom or dressing room. It’s always on the girls’ side. I have news for these people. Your little girls are in more actual danger from OTHER GIRLS than they are from trans girls. I assume you’ve heard of “mean” girls? That’s where they usually strike. In fact, as someone who has been a victim, let me tell you something. Those trans girls? They are more likely to come to the DEFENSE of your sweet baby.

I don’t know what kind of justification you folks think you have, but if you think traumatizing every kid in your child’s grade by inspecting their privates is going to solve anything, you are sadly mistaken. It is not. It’s going to mark your child as the child of parents who are loonies and she’ll be shut out of social situations. Kids will find out who you are and they’ll take it out on her. You’re not helping.

Heck, in some cultures, the men wear skirts and the women wear pants (Scottish, Indonesia, and some others). Just because you’re not accustomed to seeing people dressed like that or wearing garments that way does not mean it isn’t masculine or feminine. It’s just cultural. Get your butt off your shoulders and learn something new. And leave trans people alone. They are no threat to ANY BODY. Geeze.
